The character, Esther Huish, in the book, “The Locket”, by Richard Paul Evans, writes in her diary, “I have wondered if I am trying to force a life. While the life I lead may not match the picture in my head, perhaps the one offered me is just as full of joys, its pigments just as bright, just not what I expected.”
In another entry, Esther shares, “If the errors of my life have profited me one great truth, it is this: believe. Believe in your destiny and the star from which it shines. Believe you have been sent from God as an arrow pulled from His own bow...Believe as if your life depended on it, for indeed it does.”
Guess
How would life be if we embrace each moment
as if it were a long-lost love, home at last?
How would our lives be different
if we caress each hour with soft love,
welcome each day as a treasured friend,
never to be seen again?
What would our feelings do
if we kiss them like babies,
loved no matter if laughing or crying?
What would we think of ourselves
if we whisper sweet words of encouragement,
wrap ourselves in silky-soft affection,
even in the midst of disappointment?
How would our loved ones feel
if we cherish them with gentle compassion
in their sadness and anger?
How would we appear to others
if we see our inner beauty
when we look in the mirror?
What kind of world would we live in
if we see only God, choose only love,
laugh at seriousness,
know that life is a game
we’re guaranteed to win?
Guess.
