Sher and John Christian, longtime residents of Nevada County,
moved to the North Bay in November of 2005 to be close to the ocean and expand their careers in poetry and music.
Sher wrote poetry as a contemplative young adult. After teaching elementary school in California and Hawaii, she moved to Nevada County where a search for her life purpose prompted poetry to flow again.
Sher discovered a passion for speaking her words and presented several poetry readings including "Revels of the Sensual Goddess", acompanied by John's eclectic keyboard music.
Sher's book, Star Kissed Shadows, Divining Poetry was published in 2004. Sher taught poetry and creative writing for Sierra College. In Sonoma County she performs her poetry that invites others into the lush world of the senses.
Sher brings twenty years experience and teaching in alternative healing modalities, such as iridology, flower essences, aromatherapy, and intuitive counseling to her work.
John began playing piano at age ten. His musical accomplishments vary from playing in a rock band in Hawaii that warmed up for Loggins & Messina and other main acts to chanting and singing bajhans in the Indian Himalayas.
John composed and played the music for his CD, Behind The Mask, an uplifting blend of inspirational, jazz, and world music performed on grand piano, synthesizer, saxophone, hand drums and acoustic instruments.
He has offered personal music compositions that help others heal and transcend suffering into understanding and peace. John played keyboard for the popular band, RAYO, and composed and played the music for two plays produced by the Performing Arts Guild.
He has created music for radio commercials and videos. John was the music director and keyboardist for The Sierra Center for Positive Living in 2005.
John accompanies Sher’s poems with keyboard music and sound effects in styles that include Cajun, rhythm and blues, jazz, and boogie woogie. Their compact disc Sweet Tongue was released October, 2007. Sher and John were featured at The Nevada County Poetry Series in June, 2003 and Valentine Erotique at The North Columbia Cultural Schoolhouse, 2004 and 2005.
John and Sher are available to perform for groups, celebrations, weddings, memorials, retreats, and events. Sher offers her vocal skills for voiceover projects, such as CDs, Commercials, stories, etc.
John is available to create music for films, videos, CDs.
